Genneia, Argentina's leading renewable energy company, will tender up to $30 million in new green corporate bonds on Tuesday, November 3, to finance battery storage. The issue, designated Class L, will be placed in the local market, and that initial amount can be increased.
According to the company, the proceeds will go to battery energy storage system (BESS) projects under the AlmaGBA and AlmaSADI programs, the government storage tenders for the Greater Buenos Aires grid and for the national interconnected system, respectively, which are designed to add storage capacity to the power system. With these projects, Genneia aims to store electricity and deliver it during peak demand periods, ease grid constraints and reduce the risk of service interruptions.
Dollar Notes With a Fixed Rate and a 36-Month Tenor
The Class L green notes will be denominated and payable in U.S. dollars. They will carry a fixed annual interest rate, to be set at the tender, with semiannual payments and a 36-month tenor.
The securities will be listed on the Social, Green and Sustainable Bonds (SVS) panel of Bolsas y Mercados Argentinos (ByMA), Argentina's main stock exchange. The panel groups instruments whose proceeds fund projects with environmental, social or sustainability goals.
Macro Securities will coordinate the transaction as arranger and placement agent. Banco de la Provincia de Buenos Aires, Banco Santander, Invertironline, Banco Supervielle, Balanz, BST, Banco Galicia, Banco Mariva, Banco Patagonia, Petrini Valores, Industrial Valores, ONE618, Cucchiara, Bull Market, Banco de Valores, CMF, Alynk, Adcap and Banco Ciudad will also act as placement agents.
Green Bond Placements Top $1.2 Billion
According to the company, the issue strengthens its position as Argentina's largest green bond issuer, with cumulative placements of more than $1.2 billion in the local and international capital markets. Genneia also said it holds 23% of the country's installed renewable capacity, including 21% of wind capacity and 28% of solar capacity, based on September 2026 data.
Genneia's growth strategy rests on three pillars: renewable generation, battery energy storage and high-voltage transmission infrastructure. In transmission, in May 2026 it was awarded an indirect stake of 13.2% in Transener, Argentina's main high-voltage transmission operator, through the tender in which the Argentine government sold its holding in CITELEC, Transener's controlling company.
Genneia currently operates wind farms and solar parks with combined renewable capacity of 1,785 MW.
