YPF makes a leap in productivity — -

YPF reached a new record in its shale oil production: it hit 200,000 barrels per day, representing 82% growth in less than two years. The company reported that this increase was made possible by the transformation of its operational processes.

Among those processes, YPF highlighted the incorporation of technologies such as RTIC, artificial intelligence and predictive-analysis tools, which improved productivity and optimized resources.

The implementation of Toyota Well, based on the TPS continuous-improvement methodology, was also key to boosting production while reducing costs.

According to the company, when Horacio Marín took over as YPF president in December 2023, shale production stood at roughly 110,000 barrels per day. Today that figure has nearly doubled, strengthening the company’s position as a leader in the development of unconventional resources.

A milestone driven by innovation

“This milestone reflects the commitment, innovation and talent of the entire YPF team. Reaching 200,000 barrels per day of shale oil is not only a productive achievement, but also the result of a deep shift in the way we operate,” Marín said.

The Upstream team was key to this progress, with a strong results-oriented approach, operational excellence and collaborative work. Within the framework of the 4x4 Plan, YPF is betting on the development of Vaca Muerta as a driver of the country’s energy and economic growth.
