The Power Systems segment of Cummins Inc. closed 2025 with record sales and profitability, positioning the global engine manufacturer as a leader in reliable and transition-ready power generation solutions.

According to fourth-quarter 2025 results, Power Systems drove the company’s overall performance with record revenue in power generation — more than $4.7 billion for the year — fueled by surging demand from data centers, industrial backup applications and remote mining operations.

For 2026, the company projects total revenue growth of between 3% and 8%, with Power Systems as one of the main drivers. Capacity expansion is expected, along with sustained strength in power generation, including backup systems for data centers, a segment forecast to remain robust.

Argentina: Focus on mining and Vaca Muerta, backed by distributor network

In Argentina, Cummins maintains its leadership in Power Systems through its official distributor network, including Cummins Argentina and Cummotors. The company supplies high-capacity generator sets to mining projects — including lithium operations in the Lithium Triangle provinces of Catamarca, Salta and Jujuy, as well as copper and gold projects in San Juan — and to energy operations in Vaca Muerta, the country’s flagship shale play.

Engines from the QSK and KTA series, as well as newer platforms such as HELM with B7.2 and X10 models, power generators used for drills, mills, lighting systems and compressors at remote sites, where reliability and full performance at high altitude are critical.

The local network expects to benefit directly from the global Power Systems boom, with greater spare parts availability, certified technical support and hybrid and battery energy storage system solutions that could soon reach Argentine mining projects.

In Vaca Muerta, Cummins generators remain a standard solution for backup and off-grid operations in shale oil and gas developments.

Rudy López, general operations manager for Cummins in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, said 2025 closed on a solid note for the Argentine operation.

“Despite the country’s challenging context, we achieved our best results in the past five years. This was no coincidence. It is the result of the loyalty of our OEM customers and the strength of our official dealer network, which includes 50 dealers and provides unique nationwide coverage,” López said.

He added that in 2025 the company made decisive progress in introducing cutting-edge technology, highlighting the rollout of dual-fuel solutions for oil and gas and the transition to high-efficiency electronic engines for the agricultural sector.

“We are integrating intelligence and sustainability into the country’s energy matrix,” he said.

Looking ahead to 2026, López said Cummins is reinforcing its commitment to strategic sectors.

“We are actively supporting mining projects that are driving national growth, and the upcoming opening of a new branch in Neuquén will serve as a hub to strengthen oil and gas operations. Being present where our customers need us, with the best technology available globally, defines Cummins’ leadership in the region,” he said.

The next Expo San Juan Minera, scheduled for May 6-8, 2026, is expected to serve as a local barometer. Cummins and its partners are likely to showcase advances in sustainable energy solutions for mining, aligned with the company’s global Destination Zero strategy.

With Argentina’s mining sector projected to expand in 2026, particularly in lithium and copper, and with Vaca Muerta requiring increasing volumes of reliable power, the Power Systems line positions Cummins as a strategic partner in the country’s energy transition.
