A successful operation carried out by Loginter in partnership with Vestas at the Port of Bahía Blanca marks a key milestone and opens the door to increased imports of wind turbines and components, consolidating the terminal as a preferred logistics hub for renewable energy expansion in Argentina.

The operation, completed at Puerto Galván within the Bahía Blanca port complex in Buenos Aires province, involved unloading 36 large wind turbine blades from the vessel Star Luster. These blades — critical components with exceptional dimensions, advanced aerodynamic designs and extended lengths — required specialized handling, infrastructure adapted for oversized cargo, extensive storage areas and precise logistical coordination to ensure safety, efficiency and compliance with international standards.

The maneuver took place at Site 5 of the Bahía Blanca–Coronel Rosales Free Trade Subzone, under the Buenos Aires Sur Free Trade Zone regime, an area optimized for large-scale projects that minimizes turnaround times, reduces costs and maximizes operational safety.

Loginter’s Expertise and Strategic Alliance With Vestas

As an integrated logistics operator, Loginter coordinated the entire process, from vessel reception and unloading with specialized lifting equipment to temporary storage and efficient overland transport.

The partnership with Vestas, a global wind turbine manufacturer, was decisive. The company provided technical expertise for safe handling and component verification, ensuring compatibility with next-generation turbine models such as the V136 and V162.

The successful operation reinforces confidence in the Port of Bahía Blanca as a strategic gateway for large-scale wind turbine imports. Vestas has repeatedly used the port to supply wind farms in Buenos Aires, Chubut and other regions, consolidating its logistics capacity to handle blades, towers, nacelles and generators.

Growth of Argentina’s Wind Sector

The Loginter-Vestas operation coincides with significant momentum in Argentina’s wind sector, with recent and planned projects requiring specialized logistics:

  • Genneia: La Elbita Wind Farm (Tandil, Buenos Aires), 162 MW in 2025, using Vestas turbines, adding to its portfolio that includes Rawson, Trelew, Madryn and Pomona.
  • Pampa Energía: PEPE VI Wind Farm (Bahía Blanca), 139.5–140 MW, using Vestas technology.
  • Central Puerto / PCR: Expansions at Mataco-San Jorge and Alamitos Wind Farm (Bahía Blanca, 111 MW, expected online in 2027); inauguration of hybrid projects such as San Luis Norte.
  • AES Argentina: Expansion of the Vientos Bonaerenses complex with an additional 102.4 MW and a 500 MW development pipeline at various stages.
  • YPF Luz: General Lavalle Wind Farm (Buenos Aires), 155 MW in 2025, with 25 turbines of 6.2 MW each.
  • Parque Eólico Arauco (La Rioja): Reached 250 MW total capacity with its third phase (PEA III, 100 MW) and is advancing a 50 MW solar-wind hybrid project under construction.

Other developments by ABO Energy, Fortescue Future Industries, Nordex-Acciona and others reflect sustained sector growth, with renewable generation records in 2025 — exceeding 24% during peak months — and projections for significant investment in 2026.

Strategic Impact and Future Opportunities

The successful unloading by Loginter and Vestas creates opportunities to accelerate the arrival of additional wind equipment, strengthening the local supply chain, generating skilled jobs in logistics and port operations, and attracting further renewable energy investment.

Amid an accelerating energy transition in Argentina, the partnership positions Bahía Blanca as an indispensable platform capable of responding with agility and competitiveness to growing demand for large-scale wind projects.
